Cheney on gay marriage.

Last updated: June 2, 2009 at 6:34 pm

‘Dick’  who spoke yesterday to the National Press Club for the Gerald R. Ford Foundation journalism awards, was asked about recent rulings and legislative action in Iowa and elsewhere that allowed for gay couples to legally wed.

Apparently ‘Dick’ now supports gay marriage as long as the individual states are making the call. Great!  “Let’s make the state government do it.”

Sounds easy enough right? That is unless your state leaders are like the ones we have here in Colorado. . . spineless, wimps – who don’t want to create a controversy by taking on gay marriage either. Why? For the same reason you pass it off to them ‘Dick’; because it’s always almost campaign season and who (holding any office) would want to grant GLBT persons equality until it’s the popular thing to do? Wouldn’t want to put your political career on the line for something silly like that, would you Bill Ritter; would you John Hickenlooper?

Didn’t think so.

  1. Fake fundamentalist, Reformed Fundamentalist, Unrepentant Fundamentalist, and Scary Fundamentalist - June 3, 2009

[...] Next is Reformed Fundamentalist Dick Cheney who has now taken a more pro-marriage-equality position than our current president. (In all fairness Dick is more of a neo-con than a “fundamentalist” but I needed to call him one for the post to work.) (via gayzetteblog) [...]
